Business First: 10 WNY cos. make Inc. 5000 list

A Colden telecommunications firm has cracked the Inc. 500, and is among 10 Western New York companies included in the Inc. Magazine 2013 list of the nation’s 5000 fastest growing private companies.

The Inc. Magazine 2013 500/5000 List, unveiled this week, is available online as a series of searchable lists and stories. The listing is based on four years of financial data from 2009 through 2012.

The industries with the largest aggregate growth fell in the environmental services and energy categories, which saw growth of 240 percent and 209 percent, respectively.

The list includes 366 companies based in New York. Here’s who made the cut this year from the eight-county region:

• Odyssey Telecommunications, a Colden telecommunications firm focusing on the voice over IP (VoIP) market, was ranked No. 388 with 1,140 percent growth. Revenue in 2012 grew to $3.3 million from just $263,921 in 2009.

Founded in 2008, the company is led by Bob Blizniak and has six employees.

• Spicer Group, a Buffalo construction firm, was ranked No. 1723 with a five-year growth rate of 225 percent. Revenue for 2012 reached $5.6 million.

• U.S. Energy Group Development, a Getzville energy firm, was ranked No. 1985 with a five-year growth rate of 189 percent. Revenue for 2012 reached $140.8 million.

• Christmas Central, a Cheektowaga retail business, was ranked No. 2179 with a five-year growth rate of 169 percent. Revenue for 2012 was $16.5 million.

Bear Metal Works, a Buffalo manufacturer, was ranked No. 2432 with a five-year growth rate of 148 percent. Revenue for 2012 was $2.4 million.

• Logistic Dynamics, an Amherst logistics and transportation firm, was ranked No. 2889 with a five-year growth rate of 118 percent. Revenue for 2012 was $39.6 million.

• Eminent Technology Solutions, an IT firm in Buffalo, was ranked No. 3685 with a five-year growth rate of 80 percent. Revenue for 2012 hit $6.3 million.

• Inergex, a Buffalo IT services firm, was ranked No. 4611 with a five-year growth rate of 47 percent and revenue for 2012 of $17.4 million.

Copier Fax Business Technologies, a Buffalo business products and services firm, ranked No. 4702 with a five-year growth rate of 44 percent. Revenue for 2012 reached $5.3 million.

• Buffalo Filter, a Lancaster manufacturer, was ranked No. 4934 with a five-year growth rate of 37 percent. Revenue for 2012 reached $15 million.
