Making the Most of the Niagara USA Quick Connect Networking Lunch

At the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce, one of our most popular and impactful networking events is the Quick Connect lunch. Unlike more formal networking events, Quick Connect lunches – like the one we have coming up Thursday (4/17) at Joey’s Pizzeria in Niagara Falls – offer a casual atmosphere where members simply pay their own way, sit wherever they choose, and introduce themselves to the group. The name “Quick Connect” perfectly encapsulates our goal: facilitating fast and meaningful connections between local professionals.

So, how do you make the most of these casual yet powerful networking opportunities? Here are three key strategies:

1. Consistency and Relationship Building

Networking is about building relationships, not fishing for immediate sales. The power of the Quick Connect comes from attending consistently. When you regularly attend these lunches, people get to know you, develop trust, and become familiar with what you do. Showing up once might introduce you, but attending regularly helps you establish a presence and deepen relationships that can benefit you and your business in the long term.

2. Focus on Referral Business

It’s important to approach Quick Connect lunches realistically: Your ideal client may not always be in the room, especially with a typical gathering of around 20 people. However, your next referral partner likely is. By clearly presenting what you do in an engaging way, you help others remember your story and understand exactly who you’re looking to connect with. Referral partners effectively expand your sales team, taking your story out into the community and making valuable introductions on your behalf.

3. Prepare Simple and Clear Talking Points

To successfully generate referrals, make sure your message is simple and clear. Your networking partners have their own jobs, responsibilities, and tasks to manage. If you ask them to carry a complicated message, chances are they won’t. But a simple request like, “If you hear someone talking about XYZ, I’d love an introduction,” is easy to remember and act on. Provide clear, concise talking points about your business that anyone can quickly grasp and share, increasing the likelihood of meaningful referrals.

Quick Connect lunches are quality networking. If you’re consistent, focus on relationship-building, leverage referral business, and simplify your message to make it easy for others to help you, you’ll see results.

Ready to put these tips into action? Our next Quick Connect lunch is coming up on Thursday, April 17th. Mark your calendar, and come ready to connect, build relationships, and grow your network. We’ll see you there!
