Below is a summary of CFA (Consolidated Funding Application) funded projects that impact Niagara County
Lockport Ice Arena and Sports Center:
Lockport Ice Arena- A two-pad hockey arena with related retail support services will be located in the heart of the City’s downtown. The project will demolish a long vacant supermarket and invest $11 million in capital costs. ESD Grant $1,000,000.00
Lumber City Development Corporation:
Oliver Street Revitalization- Lumber City Development will assist owners of mixed use buildings on Oliver Street in the City of North Tonawanda to complete residential and commercial renovation projects. HCR $200,000.00
TAM Ceramics: Rare Earth Recycling- TAM Ceramics will partner with ReNew for the purpose of reclaiming valuable earth materials from components containing rare earths, such as magnets, and selling the materials back into various markets. ESD Grant $250,000.00
Carousel Society of the Niagara Frontier:
Allan Herschell Office Building- This $269,000 restoration of the orginial Allan Herschell Company Office Building in North Tonawanda will complete the restoration of the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum complex. The funding will make it possible to restore a treasured historical cultural resource in this Canal Gateway Community. The project will comprise the restoration of the Factory Museum, which interprets the operations and contributions of the company to family recreation in the U.S.- while including the insertion of a new foundation, reconstructing of the original roof line, windows, doors, siding, mechanical systems, plumbing, painting and other site improvements. Canals $134,450 and ESD Grant $134,000.00
City of North Tonawanda:
Gratwick Marina Redevelopment- The City of North Tonawanda will design and reconstruct inprovements to the central and southern marina basins at Gratwick Park Marina along the Niagara River. DOS LWRP $208,125.00
City of North Tonawanda:
Erie Canal Bike Path Extension- The City will design and construct a pedestrian/bicycle path along the historic Erie Canal. The new path- which will connect Mayor’s Park, a municipal waterfront park, with the terminus of the existing path at the intersection of Payne Avenue and Sweeney Street. This will add approximately 1.1 miles of publicly accessible waterfront path. Canals $144,707.00
City of Niagara Falls:
Trades Job Training Facility- The Niagara Falls “Trades Job Training Facility” Project will renovate a vacant, city owned commercial structure on Highland Avenue, and create a trades employment center for The Isaiah 61 Project. ESD $132,000.
Riviera Theatre and Organ Preservation Society, Inc.:
Digital Conversion Project-
The Historic Riviera Theatre, built in 1926 is listed on the National and State registrar of historic places; home to the original Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ. The project will install a new digital projector, lamp, power supply, server, electrical upgrades and provide staff training. Arts DFPCP $42,343.00
Town of Porter: Local Waterfront Revitalization Program-The Town of Porter will prepare a draft Local Waterfront Revitalization Program for its Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario waterfronts to provide a comprehensive approach to waterfront planning and development of the town. DOS LWRP $34,250.00
Niagara County Community College: Operational Skills Training- NCCC will train 60 long-term unemployed workers in customer service, training for intervention procedures, restaurant server, ServSafe and security pre-service. DOL UWT $25,397.00
Regional Projects
Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation:
The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc.: The Service Collaborative of Western NY Opportunity Corps AmeriCorps Program- TSCWNY AmeriCorps Program will provide financial literacy services to economically disadvantaged adults in Erie, Niagara Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. The program model is designed to move individuals from poverty, through initial employment, to self-sufficiency and eventual to asset building. ONCS $245,01.00
