From the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo: Great News for Western New York

On Tuesday, Governor Cuomo traveled to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, where he made significant announcements that will jumpstart economic growth for the entire region. As The Buffalo News editorial put it, the announcements show the Governor’s ‘commitment to WNY.’ Click here to read the editorial.

  • The Governor has committed a historic $1 billion to the region to create thousands of jobs and spur billions in new investments, and on Tuesday, he was presented with a detailed plan from the Western New York Council to maximize the state’s unprecedented investment.   • New York will invest $50 million in state of the art biomedical research equipment and has secured an agreement from a private company, Albany Molecular Research Inc (AMRI), to relocate in Western New York at the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BMNC). The state’s investment will leverage $200 million in private investment and create 250 jobs. Click here to read more.
     
  • A multilateral agreement spearheaded by the Governor will save the Maid of the Mist scenic boat excursions from shutting down and enhance recreation options for residents and tourists visiting the region. Click here to read more about the agreement.

“These are tremendously heartening moves for a region that has seen more than its share of economic disappointments,” says The Buffalo News. And with these announcements, the paper thanks the Governor for “sticking by his promise to Western New York.”
